I know spoilers are about to start trickling across from Hawaii and 4 more months is a long time to resist. So are y'all spoiler people, or live-the-moment people?
Personally, I like to remain as spoiler-free as possible because I like to experience LOST in its pure form with no pre-conceived ideas. But it is d**nably hard to resist sometimes when there is NOTHING new to satisfy your growing need to feed the addiction. The Emmys held me for a while, and I have seen some of the DVD footage on youtube. But I can't believe we still have another four months.
How about you? Spoiler or no spoiler?

I love reading any spoiler I can get my hands on. It doesn't hurt my enjoyment of the show at all. I find it actually helps at times, like when there is going to be a character killed off or something major happening. I don't like being surprised by things like that. (I would have been even more upset by Locke getting shot in "man behind the curtain" if I hadn't read a spoiler about that before I watched the episode.)

Oh, see I like to experience the shock of moments like that in their full force. I was STUNNED when Ben shot Locke, but the first words out of my mouth were, "He's not dead. I know he's not dead." I knew Eko was going to die in that one episode, and I just spent the whole time waiting for that to happen. On the other hand, I was incredibly nervous during the whole finale that Ben was going to die. I had heard that several main characters would die, and every time somebody came near him, I was sure it was going to happen! I don't know if I would have enjoyed the epi more if I had known Ben and Locke were going to survive it. Anybody else, I don't much care.

I had no idea Locke was going to be shot. Howeve, I HAD to know if he'd survive. And, yeah, when I hear someone is going to die, I have to know if it's Locke or not... I do try to skip most big spoilers, though. But I have been keeping an eye out to see if a certain character will be in any of the first eps....

I am a spoiler-free guy. I like to see it all as it is happening on the screen, in the full context and presentation as the actors, producers, directors, creators writers and staff intend for it to be presented. I can only imagine that reading snippets on paper would not provide the full explosion, the whole experience, the total impact that seeing it would. In fact, I can imagine that many fake-spoilers get out, rampant speculation masqueraded as true spoilers or facts. Were I producing a show, and I know that this is impish and sinister, but if people are discussing spoilers, I would intentionally float fake spoilers to keep the audience away from teh true story so that they get something fresh and unexpected.

It's funny, when my wife and I watch a show together (as an aside, we trade shows...she will watch one of mine, and I watch one of hers), she wants to know everything, I want to know only what I see.
Last year, she chose Big Brother, and she would read what was going on in the spoiler boards to know who won the various contests, etc. Then she'd want to talk about it with me, and I was trying desperately to watch it on TV. It was funny. Of course, I caved in, it was her show, and I wanted to be able to converse with her about it. What fun would it be to see it bottled up inside of her, and not be able to talk.

Good for you for watching shows with your wife.
You obviously are not aware that TPTB already release foilers. Apparently some big spoilers were being leaked, so they started their own foilers to try and trace back who was leaking them.
I remember reading that we'd see Helen for the first time in "Orientation." I was actually disappointed I read it, because the shock of 'meeting' her for the first time, would have been so much beter. Ah, well. I also remeber hearing some apparent foilers that we'd learn about the reason Locke was in the wheelchair and when we didn't I was let down. It's part of the reason I stay away from spoilers for the most part now.

Doh! The meeting-Helen moment from "Orientation" was awesome! I was not spoiled on that and it was a great moment. I heard that the producers are big Twilight Zone fans, and I can really see that with those big "moments" they like to spring. Locke being in a wheelchair was still the quintessential one, but there have been other pretty cool ones.
My husband watches Lost, but I don't really like watching with him because he just gets mad at them for being stupid (not asking questions, not exploring the island, etc.) At this point, I think you have to take that as part of it otherwise you can't enjoy the show.

It's funny because lots of people point out how no one talks to each other on the island. In some ways I can see that really happening, in other ways it does make you want to pull your hair out from time to time. Luckily my hubby just gives me a hard time about Locke. The w/c reveal was excellent! I remember Terry saying that he was afraid it would be anti-climatic, but then he knew it wasn't. I knew then we'd be pleased with what we saw. Not so surprising Anthony was involved, but still the shock factor. Here's something funny. After that ep, I told T I saw it coming a split second before Anthony shoved Locke out the window. He asked me why I didn't call out. Talk about a heart breaker! Did you read the article in LOST mag where T was talking about Kevin Tighe and he asked if he could just accidently shove Locke out the window. Apparently the idea of his character trying to murder his own son did not sit too well with him. Awwww. And I was surprised to learn T did his own stunts for that scene! Go Terry! I wish I could ask him more questions about that! That would be soooo cool!

I'm spoiler free!! As much as possible, anyway....for the amount of time I spend on the fan boards and Lostpedia it is impossible to dodge every single major plot, but I try my best. I have a tradition of waiting for the DVD releases...which is sooo painful but December is *just* around the corner now so it's not much longer til season 4!!! woooohooooo!!!!!
For me, the best part of Lost is the surprise plot twists - if you know it's coming, does it still make you gasp? I think not. I would much rather be taken by surprise, even if it means getting answers much further down the road. Lost is meant to be an experience. Spoilers ruin it for me.
